To make a cup of thyme tea, use about 1 to 2 teaspoons of the loose herb (roughly 2–3 grams) per 250 ml of hot water. Place the herb in a cup or teapot, pour boiling water over it, and let it steep for 5 to 10 minutes. The longer you steep, the stronger and more astringent the brew becomes, because the tannins are released over time. Strain before drinking.
You can adjust the strength to your taste: use less herb or a shorter steep for a milder cup, or more herb and a longer steep for a more intense flavor. Because this is a crushed raw herb, not an extract or powder, you can also combine it with other loose herbs in a blend—for example, with mint or chamomile—to create your own custom tea.
If you prefer a cold infusion, you can also steep the herb in cold water for several hours in the refrigerator, though the flavor will be less aromatic than with hot water. The herb is meant for occasional home use as part of a daily tea ritual, not as a substitute for a balanced diet.
