Perform a patch test at least 48 hours before you plan to colour your whole head. Apply a small amount of the prepared paste (about the size of a pea) on the skin behind your ear or inside your elbow. Leave it for 30 minutes and then rinse. If you notice any redness, itching, swelling or a burning sensation, do not use the product. The patch test is especially important if you have sensitive skin or have reacted to other hair‑colour products in the past.

For a strand test, choose a section of hair that is usually hidden, such as a small lock at the nape of your neck. Mix the henna powder with hot water according to the package instructions to form a smooth paste, then apply it to the strand using a brush. Cover the strand with plastic wrap and let it sit for 30‑45 minutes, depending on the intensity you desire. After the time, rinse the strand thoroughly. Observe the colour and how your scalp feels. If the shade looks too harsh or you experience any irritation, adjust the processing time or dilute the paste for the full application.

If your hair has been bleached, highlighted or otherwise chemically lightened, the cuticle is more open and the pigment can deposit more quickly. In these cases, start with a shorter processing time—around 15‑20 minutes—and always do a strand test first. This extra caution helps prevent an unexpectedly dark or coppery result.

Always conduct both tests in a well‑ventilated area and keep a record of the time and any reactions. If no reaction appears after 48 hours, you can proceed with confidence.
