Apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin on the areas that need attention — this can be the face, body, or along the scalp line. The balsam-cream texture is richer than a lotion and stays on the surface longer, which makes it practical for small target zones, flaky patches, or scalp areas where a lighter product would absorb too quickly.
Use a small amount first; you can always add more if the area feels like it needs it. On the scalp, part the hair and dab the product onto the skin rather than the hair shafts. On the face, avoid the eye area and the corners of the mouth. On the body, it works well on elbows, knees, or other spots that tend to look rough or shiny.
Because the formula contains birch tar, it leaves a characteristic resinous scent and a slightly occlusive feel. If you apply it in the morning, give it a few minutes to settle before putting on clothing or applying sunscreen or makeup over it. In the evening, it can be the last step after cleansing. Wash your hands after each application.
Frequency depends on how your skin responds. Many people start with once daily or every other day on the affected areas and adjust from there. If the skin feels comfortable and the appearance improves, you can maintain that rhythm. If it feels too heavy, reduce the amount or frequency.
