From what age can this lotion be used and how do I apply it safely on a toddler?

This lotion is formulated for children from 1 year of age. Apply a thin, even layer only to exposed skin areas — such as arms, legs, and neck — where bites are most likely. Do not put it on the child's hands, since toddlers frequently put fingers in their mouths, and avoid the eye area, mouth, and any cuts, rashes, or irritated skin. An adult should always do the application; do not let a young child apply it themselves. After returning indoors, wash the treated skin with soap and water. If you are using sunscreen, apply the sunscreen first, let it absorb, then apply this repellent lotion on top. Reapply the repellent only as needed and according to the label instructions; do not over-apply in an attempt to extend protection.
