Does artichoke tea have any contraindications or restrictions? — Artichoke, grass 25 gr LekraSet (lat. Cynara)

LEKRASET Artišokk is a food product, not a medicine; however, artichoke is one of the plants that stimulate the production and release of bile. This means that in certain conditions drinking it is undesirable without consulting a doctor.

It is worth being careful or consulting a specialist beforehand if:

  • you have gallstone disease or impaired bile outflow — increased bile secretion may be undesirable;
  • you are pregnant or breastfeeding — according to the label these are contraindications, as is an age under 12: in these cases the drink is not taken;
  • you are sensitive to bitter herbs or to plants of the daisy family (Asteraceae), to which artichoke belongs (if you are intolerant to artichoke itself, do not drink it);
  • you take medicines on a regular basis.

Artichoke also has a mild diuretic effect — this is worth bearing in mind if you monitor your fluid balance for medical reasons.

If you experience any unpleasant sensations after drinking it — abdominal discomfort, nausea, allergic reactions — stop taking it. The product is not intended to diagnose, treat or prevent disease.
