Although golden hare's ear is a plant product and not a medicine, there are a number of situations in which bitter herbs should be used with caution.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding. During these periods, any herbal infusion, especially one with a pronounced bitter profile and choleretic properties, is best discussed with a doctor before you start drinking it.
- Chronic conditions. If you have a diagnosed condition affecting the liver, pancreas, gallbladder or gastrointestinal tract, the herb's choleretic effect may be undesirable — consult a specialist.
- Taking medication. Some plant components can affect the absorption or action of medicines. If you take medication on a regular basis, check compatibility with a doctor or pharmacist.
- Individual intolerance and allergy. Individual intolerance is a contraindication stated by the manufacturer: in this case, do not drink the tea. If you are prone to herb allergies, watch how your body reacts, and if an allergic reaction occurs, stop drinking the tea and see a doctor.
If you notice any unusual sensations after drinking the tea — discomfort, nausea, skin reactions — stop drinking it. This is a general rule for any plant product with an active profile.
