This is a practically important point that people often do not think about in advance. VitalHarmony BIOTIN+ contains a high dose of biotin. Biotin in large amounts can distort the results of a number of laboratory tests — in particular tests for thyroid hormones, troponin and some other indicators that use biotin-streptavidin technology. This is not dangerous to health, but it can lead to false results.
So if you are planning to have a blood test, tell your doctor or the laboratory in advance that you are taking biotin — the specialist will advise whether you need to take a break and for how long.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the need for trace elements changes, and the permissible amounts of zinc and selenium in this period are better discussed with an obstetrician-gynaecologist or a general practitioner before you start taking the supplement. Adjusting the dose on your own is not recommended.
It is also worth checking the composition of other supplements you take: if they already contain zinc or selenium, the total amount may turn out to be excessive. According to the label, adults take 1 capsule a day, without exceeding the recommended dose. The product may contain milk (including lactose), soy, peanuts, other nuts, sesame, gluten, eggs, crustaceans and fish.
