What is VITATEKA psyllium and why is it added to the diet?

VITATEKA psyllium is a powder made from the seed husks of the plantain Plantago ovata. Its main value lies in its high soluble fibre content: 90.02 g of dietary fibre per 100 g of product. Modern diets are often short of vegetables, whole grains and seeds, so a concentrated source of fibre like this can be a convenient addition.

When mixed with any liquid — water, juice, yoghurt, a smoothie — psyllium swells and forms a soft gel. This gel adds bulk to the intestinal contents and softens them, which may support more regular bowel function and a longer-lasting feeling of fullness after meals. Unlike stimulant products, psyllium works gently and has no abrupt effect; its results show best with regular use combined with plenty of water.

Psyllium has no pronounced taste, so it is easy to add to everyday dishes: porridge, smoothies, baked goods and soups. It is not a medicine or a substitute for a varied diet, simply a convenient way to increase the amount of fibre you eat. It is not intended to diagnose, treat or prevent any disease. Before you start taking it, especially if you have a chronic condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are taking medication, consult a specialist.
