"VITATEKA" Põdrakanepi lehtede tee is fermented fireweed leaf, also known as ivan-chai. Fermentation is a natural processing of the leaf that changes its taste, aroma and the colour of the brew: the drink becomes richer, mellower and more "tea-like" in character. This is why ivan-chai comes across differently from fresh or simply dried leaves.
The main difference from the usual black tea and coffee is that fireweed contains no caffeine. It does not have a pronounced stimulating effect, so it is chosen by those who want a warm drink without an unnecessary energising kick. This tea suits the daytime, the evening or quiet breaks between tasks, when ordinary tea or coffee seems too "active".
The plant naturally contains plant compounds, organic acids and vitamins. For this reason, fireweed herbal tea is often chosen as part of a balanced diet and as a substitute for the usual caffeinated drinks. It is important to remember that this is a food product, not a medicine.
