What do chondroitin and hyaluronic acid do in a cosmetic cream – why are they here? — Body cream-balm Chondroitin and Hyaluronic Acid 75ml - Fito Bio Technology

Chondroitin and hyaluronic acid are substances often associated with joint support, but in a topical cosmetic product they work differently: their job is to act at the level of the skin rather than penetrate deeper.

  • Chondroitin is linked to the structure of connective tissue and can retain moisture. In cosmetics, it is included in formulas aimed at areas of active movement to help keep the skin over these areas more elastic and supple.
  • Hyaluronic acid attracts water from the environment and holds it in the upper layers of the skin. This helps reduce the feeling of tightness and dryness – especially relevant for the skin on the knees, elbows and neck, which tends to become dehydrated.

The formula is completed by squalane (softens and reduces dryness), niacinamide (supports the skin barrier) and glucosyl ceramide (helps the skin retain moisture). Together, these ingredients create a moisturising and softening base, against which menthol and camphor provide tactile comfort after application.

It is important to understand that this is a cosmetic skincare product, not a medicine. It is not intended to treat joints or any disease.
