How do oil-based drops differ from ordinary water-based nasal sprays, and when is it worth choosing the oil format?

Water-based sprays — isotonic or hypertonic solutions — moisturise and cleanse the mucous membrane well, but their effect is relatively short-lived: the liquid is quickly absorbed or runs off. An oil base behaves differently: it does not mix with water and stays on the surface of the mucosa longer, forming a thin softening layer.

This format is particularly relevant when the mucous membrane dries out faster than usual: long spells in heated rooms with dry air, frequent travel on public transport, working in the cold or wind. The olive oil, peach oil and liquid paraffin in the formula help retain moisture and reduce the feeling of dryness and tightness.

That said, the oily texture does not suit everyone: with heavy discharge or congestion, it may feel uncomfortable. In addition, the eucalyptus, spruce and rosemary essential oils create a pronounced aroma — people with very sensitive mucous membranes or a tendency to react to smells should bear this in mind in advance.

Both formats can be used as part of the same care routine: for example, rinsing first with a water-based solution and then applying the oil-based product. The main thing is not to use oil drops immediately before a water-based spray, otherwise the oil layer will prevent the solution from spreading evenly.
