How does the chelated form of zinc differ from the ordinary one, and why does it matter? — Evalar Anti-Age Zinc Chelate Tablets, 0.5 g, 100 pcs

Zinc is produced in different chemical forms: oxide, sulphate, gluconate, citrate and chelate. EVALAR Zinc Chelate Anti-age uses zinc bisglycinate, a form in which the zinc ion is "wrapped" in two molecules of the amino acid glycine.

What this means in practice for the buyer:

  • Tolerability. Simpler zinc compounds (for example sulphate or oxide) cause stomach discomfort in some people, especially when taken on an empty stomach. Chelated forms are generally considered gentler in this respect.
  • Delivery form. The chelate reaches the intestine as a ready-made "mineral + amino acid" complex, which makes it easier to interact with the cells of the mucosa than ionic forms, which first have to compete for transport proteins.

This does not mean that the chelate suits everyone or is always better than any other form, as individual reactions can differ. But if you have noticed discomfort from zinc-containing supplements before, the chelated form is a sensible one to try.

Important: this is a food supplement, not a medicine. If you take other mineral complexes, check whether they already contain zinc, as the total intake must not exceed the recommended amount.
