This product is a lipid-only formula: it supplies linoleic acid and the emollient fatty acids from linseed oil to reinforce the skin's barrier and reduce transepidermal water loss. It does not contain humectants (glycerin, hyaluronic acid, panthenol, urea) that draw water into the stratum corneum. Therefore, on its own it seals in whatever moisture is already present but does not add hydration.
For mildly dry or combination skin in humid conditions, the oil alone may feel sufficient — especially if applied to damp skin right after rinsing. For visibly dry, rough, or mature skin, or in heated indoor air, layering a water-based moisturiser over the oil (or mixing 1–2 drops into your cream) gives a more complete result: humectants hydrate, the oil locks it in.
If you prefer a minimal routine, you can alternate: use a moisturiser in the morning and this oil in the evening, or vice versa. Observe how your skin feels after 2–3 weeks; tightness returning by midday usually signals the need for both steps.
