Can rosehip syrup be given to children?

Rosehip syrup in liquid form is indeed convenient for the whole family: it is easy to measure out the right amount and add it to water or tea. The dosage on the label is given for adults only — 1 teaspoon (5 ml) 3 times a day with meals, so the age from which a child can be given the syrup, and how much, should be decided with a paediatrician.

There are several things to bear in mind. First, the syrup contains sugar, which matters when planning a child's diet, especially if a doctor has recommended limiting carbohydrates. Second, rosehip is one of the fruits that can cause allergic reactions, so when a child tries the product for the first time, it is sensible to start with a small amount and watch the reaction. If the child has a chronic illness or takes medication regularly, consult a paediatrician before adding the syrup to their diet.
