The formula contains formic alcohol, which gives the cream its characteristic stimulating effect. On intact but dry, rough skin this is usually well tolerated and feels warming. On open cracks, fissures, or freshly abraded areas it can sting noticeably. If your hands are at that stage, apply a plain barrier ointment (petrolatum, dimethicone-based protectant) on the worst spots first, let them close for a day or two, then introduce Formicavit Derm on the surrounding skin. The dexpanthenol will still support moisture retention once the barrier is intact. Always do a patch test on a small area of the forearm or the back of one hand before full use, especially if you have a history of contact sensitivity.
