Can I use it on my face, or on sensitive or freshly shaved skin?

It is not intended for the face. Coarse Himalayan salt crystals are generally too aggressive for facial skin, which is thinner and more reactive than body skin — this scrub is formulated for the body, where the surface can handle a denser abrasive.

On freshly shaved skin, be cautious. Shaving leaves microscopic nicks, and both salt and citrus components (this formula contains grapefruit extract) are exactly the kind of ingredients that sting on compromised skin. A practical approach: exfoliate before shaving rather than after — smoothing the skin first can actually make shaving easier — or leave at least a day between shaving and scrubbing the same area.

If your skin is sensitive or tends to react to fragranced or citrus-based cosmetics, do a patch test first: apply a small amount to a limited area such as the inner forearm, use it as you normally would, rinse, and watch the spot for 24 hours. If there is no stinging, redness or itching, you can introduce the scrub gradually, starting with once a week and light pressure. Skip it entirely on broken, irritated or sunburned skin, and keep it away from the eye area.
