Babassu oil comes from a Brazilian palm and has a different fatty-acid profile than shea butter or coconut oil. It is naturally high in lauric and myristic acids, which are shorter-chain fatty acids that penetrate the skin surface quickly. This gives the cream a light, almost dry-touch finish — it sinks in within seconds and does not leave a glossy film on the hands. Shea butter, by contrast, contains more stearic and oleic acids, creating a richer, more occlusive layer that some people find heavy or slow to absorb. Coconut oil also has lauric acid but tends to sit on the surface longer and can feel greasy, especially in cooler temperatures. The 40% babassu active complex in this formula is designed to deliver barrier-supporting lipids without that tacky after-feel, so it suits situations where you need to type, handle paper, or use a touchscreen immediately after application.

Because the formula spreads easily and absorbs fast, you need very little product per application — roughly a pea-sized drop (about 0.2–0.3 ml) covers both hands. At three to four applications a day (morning, after lunch, after washing up in the evening, and optionally before bed), a 30 ml tube provides approximately 100–150 uses, which translates to roughly one to one and a half months. The compact size is intentional: it fits in a coat pocket, desk drawer, or carry-on bag, so you can reapply after hand-washing or sanitiser use without carrying a bulky container. If you only apply once or twice daily, the tube will last correspondingly longer. There is no interaction risk between the sanitiser's alcohol and the cream's ingredients. If your hands are visibly soiled, wash with soap and water first, pat dry, then apply the cream. Frequent reapplication after each sanitising session is safe and helps maintain comfort throughout the day.
