The close fit also improves proprioception — your sense of where the ankle is in space — so you may notice your foot placement more when walking, training, or changing direction.
Size 3 is the medium size in the Fosta Neoprene Ankle Support 413-3 range. Sizing for this type of slip-on sleeve is usually based on ankle circumference, measured just above the ankle bone. To get a reliable measurement, sit down, keep the foot at a roughly 90-degree angle to the leg, and wrap a flexible measuring tape around the narrowest part of the ankle, normally just above the bony prominence. Do this over a thin sock if that is how you plan to wear it.
Put the sleeve on before you start walking or exercising. Sit down, roll the sleeve down into a ring, then slip your foot through and pull the fabric up over the ankle. Smooth out any wrinkles, especially around the heel and the front of the joint, so the compression is even. The top edge should sit comfortably below the calf muscle unless the product design says otherwise.
