Why does a magnesium complex also contain vitamins B, C and E — are they really needed together?

Including several groups of vitamins in one complex is not just a marketing ploy. Each component here has a specific function, and they do not duplicate each other.

  • B vitamins act as coenzymes: they help the body extract energy from carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Without them, food is not converted as efficiently into energy that cells can use. B vitamins are also involved in the functioning of the nervous system, which makes them a logical addition to magnesium.
  • Vitamin C plays a dual role in this complex: it is an antioxidant and is also needed for the synthesis of collagen, the structural protein of connective tissue. Vitamin C also helps cells cope with oxidative stress, which increases under physical and mental strain.
  • Vitamin E complements the antioxidant protection: it is fat-soluble and protects cell membranes from free radicals — where the water-soluble vitamin C is less effective.

This combination is particularly relevant at times when the diet lacks variety: one complex makes it possible to top up several nutrients at once without having to take several different supplements. At the same time, the complex remains a food supplement, not a medicine, and is not intended to treat any condition.
