Will this soap make my skin feel dry or tight?

The formula combines glycerin, kaolin, and birch tar. The tar and kaolin do the heavy lifting — they remove excess sebum, oil, and residue — while glycerin is included specifically to reduce the tight, stripped sensation that stronger cleansing bars can sometimes leave. For normal or oily skin, a single wash should not feel excessively dry.

That said, tar soap is a strong cleanser. If your skin is dry, reactive, or easily irritated, you may notice tightness, especially in cold weather or after frequent washing. The practical approach is to start with one wash per day, observe how your skin feels, and if it feels tight or uncomfortable, reduce the frequency or use the soap only on hands or body. Adding a light moisturizer after washing is a sensible step for anyone using this type of cleanser, and it becomes more important in winter or after repeated washing.

If you have a skin condition or are on medication, consult a specialist before adding a new cleansing product to your routine.
