Bad Girl Mad Orange is a direct dye, so it deposits pigment onto the outer layers of the hair and does not lighten the natural colour. The final result depends strongly on your starting base. On very light or pre-lightened hair, the orange will appear vibrant and juicy. On darker hair, the effect will be softer or less visible – you may see a subtle warm tint or a glossy sheen rather than a bold orange.
If your hair is porous – for example, if it has been bleached, permed, or otherwise damaged – it may grab the pigment more strongly and hold it longer. This can make the colour appear more intense, but it can also lead to uneven results if the porosity varies across your hair. For this reason, a strand test is wise, especially if you have previously coloured hair or want an even outcome. The test will show you how the shade develops and fades on your specific hair.
If you have dark hair and want a vivid orange, you will need to lighten your hair first. This product will not change that. If you are unsure whether your hair is light enough, apply a small amount to a hidden section and check the result before doing a full application.
