Will this oil weigh down fine hair? — Restorative nut oil for breaking hair 3x15 ml - DNC

Oils are heavier than water-based leave-in products, so on very fine hair the risk is that a generous amount leaves the strands looking lank or greasy. That does not mean the product is wrong for fine, brittle hair — it means the dose and placement matter more than usual. Start with 1–2 drops, no more, and apply them only to the ends. Rub the drops between your palms so the oil becomes a thin film, then press or stroke it onto the most damaged areas instead of running your fingers through the whole head.

If the hair still feels heavy, switch to a pre-wash routine. Apply a few drops to dry ends, leave them for 20–30 minutes and then shampoo as usual. The hair still receives the fatty acids, but the wash removes any excess that could weigh the strands down. Alternatively, keep the oil as a leave-in but use it less often — once or twice a week on the ends alone is often enough for fine hair.

For coarse, porous or over-processed hair, a few more drops are usually fine; this type of hair loses moisture easily and accepts a lipid-rich coat well. If the scalp is sensitive, keep the oil on the lengths and off the skin during the first applications, watch how the skin responds, and stop use if irritation appears.
