Tooth sensitivity usually happens when the protective enamel layer becomes thinner or damaged and the underlying dentin is exposed. Dentin contains tiny fluid-filled channels that lead to the nerve; when cold, hot, sour, or sweet stimuli reach these channels, they can cause a short, sharp reaction.
This product addresses that situation in two ways. First, it is low-abrasive, so brushing does not further roughen exposed dentin or worn enamel, as can happen with strongly abrasive whitening pastes. Second, the formula contains hydroxyapatite, a mineral compound with a strong affinity for tooth tissue. Hydroxyapatite particles can settle into small surface irregularities and help smooth the enamel, which in turn reduces the pathways through which sensitivity is triggered. The paste also provides calcium and phosphate ions via calcium glycerophosphate — the same building blocks teeth naturally use — supporting a more even, better-mineralized enamel surface.
For day-to-day use, brushing with this paste can be a gentler alternative for people with a reactive mouth who still want a polishing effect. However, the product is not intended to treat the underlying causes of sensitivity. If your teeth hurt suddenly, the pain is severe, or it lasts long after a stimulus, that can be a sign of a different problem such as a cavity, cracked tooth, or gum issue — not something a toothpaste can fix. In that case, see a dentist rather than continuing to switch toothpastes.
