The intense orange color and characteristic taste of this sea buckthorn oil are not added colorants or flavorings but direct results of how the product is made and what the raw material contains. It is an unrefined berry oil produced from selected Altai sea buckthorn berries using a technology designed to preserve the substances originally found in fresh sea buckthorn, along with its aroma, color and taste.
Carotenoids are the plant pigments responsible for the bright orange shade, and they are also the compounds the body can use as provitamin A. Vitamin E and smaller amounts of B-group vitamins and trace elements are likewise naturally present in the raw material and remain in the oil because it is minimally processed. Standard refined sunflower or olive oils lose most of these pigments and much of the raw fruit character during refining, which is why they look pale and taste neutral next to this product.
For storage at home, keep the bottle closed and away from direct light and heat so the natural color and taste do not fade faster. If the oil tastes far sharper than expected or the color changes markedly, that can indicate it has oxidized and is no longer at its best. As with any concentrated oil, moderation makes sense, and those with sensitivity to strongly flavored oils should use it cautiously.
