Who should not take this syrup without consulting a doctor? — Syrup of licorice root with vitamin C 100ml - Farm Group

Although this is a plant-based food supplement, liquorice is not a neutral ingredient. Glycyrrhizic acid, which underlies its action, can affect blood pressure and the body's water and salt balance when consumed regularly in large amounts. People with high blood pressure, kidney disease or cardiovascular disease should therefore consult a doctor before taking it.

The syrup contains sugar, so it is not used by people with diabetes. Pregnancy and breastfeeding are listed among the syrup’s contraindications.

If you tend to have allergic reactions to plants of the legume family (to which liquorice belongs), study the ingredients carefully and, if necessary, consult an allergist.

The directions on the packaging are given for adults only: 1 teaspoon (5 ml) once a day with a meal, for a course of 1 month. Adjusting the dosage or the duration of use on your own is not recommended.
