When should I avoid using this scalp exfoliator?

Avoid using the exfoliator on irritated, sunburned or broken scalp skin, and do not apply it over active inflammations. Because it contains fine exfoliating granules and is designed to loosen surface build-up, using it on compromised skin can feel uncomfortable and may increase irritation.

You should also wait a couple of days after chemical hair procedures such as colouring or keratin treatments. The scalp can be more reactive immediately after these services, and exfoliation too soon may cause stinging, sensitivity or unnecessary dryness. When you return to using the product, start gently and avoid strong pressure.

If your scalp is already itchy or flaky, use common sense when deciding whether to exfoliate. Mild build-up-related flaking can be one reason to choose a scalp scrub, but intense redness, soreness, weeping, crusting or persistent discomfort are signs to pause cosmetic exfoliation and seek professional advice.

During use, massage only with the soft pads of your fingertips, never with nails. Rinse thoroughly before shampooing so that loosened residue and exfoliating particles are removed from the scalp and root area.
