When and how should I wear compression knee-high socks during the day?

These LAUMA compression knee-high socks are intended for everyday situations where the lower legs may feel heavy or less comfortable because of long standing, long sitting, travel or reduced movement. Many people put compression socks on before a work shift, a flight, a road trip or another period where they expect to remain in one position for a long time.

For the best fit, put them on when the legs are not already very swollen, often in the morning or before prolonged sitting or standing begins. Roll or gather the sock gently, place the foot in first, then work the fabric gradually over the heel, ankle and calf. Avoid pulling only from the top edge, because this can overstretch the material or make the sock sit unevenly.

Once on, the sock should lie flat against the skin. Smooth out folds, especially around the ankle and behind the knee, because creases can create uncomfortable pressure points. The top band should sit below the knee and should not roll down or dig into the skin. If the sock slips, bunches, causes numbness, tingling, unusual pain or visible skin changes, remove it and check whether the size or compression level is suitable.

During travel or long desk days, compression socks can be combined with simple movement habits such as short walks, ankle circles and changing position when possible. They are not a replacement for medical assessment if you have new, one-sided, severe or unexplained leg symptoms.
