This toner contains menthol and menthyl lactate, so an immediate cooling sensation can occur after application. For many people that simply feels refreshing, but it should not feel painful or leave the skin irritated. If the product causes strong stinging, visible redness, burning, or tight dry patches, stop using it and let the skin settle before trying any active or purifying products again.
People with very sensitive skin should be particularly careful because the formula also includes tea tree oil, plant extracts such as lavender, calendula and lemon balm, and fragrance-related components. These ingredients are common in toning products, but sensitive skin does not always tolerate essential oils, fragrance or cooling agents well.
Before first use, apply a small amount to a discreet area of skin and wait to see how it reacts. When introducing it to the face, avoid the eye contour and do not apply it to broken or freshly irritated skin. If your skin is only mildly dry after use, try using it less often and follow with a gentle moisturiser; if dryness or redness continues, it may simply be too strong for your complexion.
If you have a diagnosed skin condition or are using prescription topical products, ask a qualified professional before adding a toner with essential oils and cooling ingredients to your routine.
