What is the difference between this product and a regular moisturising cream?

A regular moisturising cream usually contains a mixture of water, oils or emollients, and other ingredients that help give the product its texture and feel. VITATEKA Vaseliinõli is much simpler: it is based on pharmaceutical grade mineral oil, also called Paraffinum Liquidum. It does not function like an “active” serum and is not described as exfoliating or stimulating the skin.

The main role of this type of oil is to create a protective surface layer that helps reduce transepidermal water loss. In practical terms, it is most useful when the skin already has some moisture present — for example after washing, bathing, or applying a water-based hydrating product. Used this way, it can help the skin feel softer and less tight by slowing moisture escape from the upper skin layers.

If your skin feels dry because it lacks both water and comfort, you may prefer to apply a light moisturiser first and then use a small amount of this oil on top. If you only need a simple protective layer on rough areas such as elbows, knees, hands, cuticles or feet, it can be used on its own. Use externally only and keep it away from the eye area.
