The main difference is what each product does in the water. Bubble baths and shower gels contain foaming agents that create lather and actively lift dirt and oils from the skin. Vannisool lavender bath salt contains no such agents: it is a crystalline sea salt base with lavender essential oil. When it dissolves in warm water, it makes the water mineral-rich and releases the lavender aroma into the air. The experience is closer to a spa soak than to washing with a cleanser.
In practice this means:
There is no lather. If you expect foam, you will not get it; the water simply becomes slightly silky and carries the scent.
It does not strip the skin the way some foaming cleansers can. The skin is left feeling fresh and smooth rather than heavily coated.
You will likely still want a separate cleanser for actual washing. The bath salt is about the bathing ritual, not about removing dirt.
The lavender scent is the key sensory element. With a bubble bath, fragrance is usually a side note; here, the essential oil is the active component and the reason people choose it for evening wind-downs or after physical exertion.
If you are used to foaming bath products, the first bath with this salt may feel unusual because nothing bubbles. That is normal. The value is in the mineral water and the calming atmosphere, not in the visual effect. Some people combine both: wash with soap first, then drain and refill the tub with plain warm water and bath salt for a relaxing soak.
