LOODU Käpasalv uses a simple base of plant oil and beeswax. The plant oil helps soften hardened, dry areas of the paw pad, while beeswax forms a light layer that helps reduce moisture loss from the surface. This combination gives the product a balm texture that stays in place better than a light cream, which is useful on paws because the skin is constantly pressed against floors and ground.
The formula also contains propolis extract and chamomile. Both are traditional botanical components in skin products and are included here for their soothing properties. They do not change the basic action of the balm; they simply add ingredients commonly chosen for products meant for dry, exposed skin.
Tea tree oil is present in a small amount as an aromatic botanical component. Because it is an essential oil, it contributes to the scent and is typical of this type of topical formula, but it is not the main active ingredient. The product is an animal cosmetic, not a medicine.
If your dog has known sensitivity to bee products, propolis, or essential oils, this balm may not be the best choice. Since propolis and beeswax are bee-derived and tea tree oil is an essential oil, individual reactions are possible even if a dog has not reacted to other paw products before. For a dog with very reactive skin, it is reasonable to apply a small amount to one paw and wait a day before using it on all four paws.
The balm does not replace steps like keeping paws free of caked mud or limiting contact with fresh road salt. It is a care product to include in a regular paw-maintenance routine, not a product for injured skin.
