What is fermented Ivan-tea and how does it differ from ordinary dried herb tea?

Fermented Ivan-tea is narrow-leaved fireweed that has been processed so the leaves undergo fermentation before drying. Fermentation changes the character of the drink: instead of a grassy, raw herb taste, the tea becomes deeper, smoother and more rounded. In this blend, the fermented fireweed is combined with thyme, which adds a more expressive, slightly resinous note and a light spicy aroma. The overall result is a warm, soft, floral herbal drink with a mild body, intended for moments when you want something fragrant and not too sharp in taste.

Fireweed has a long history of use in Eastern European herbal traditions as a pleasant warming beverage. Because the leaves are fermented, this is a plant-based infusion rather than a tea made from the tea plant, and it naturally contains no caffeine. People typically choose it as part of a daily routine when they want a caffeine-free hot drink, a quiet pause in the second half of the day, or a seasonal herbal blend for colder weather.

Like any herb-based product, this tea is not a medicine and is not intended to diagnose, treat or prevent any disease; it is not a substitute for a balanced diet. Its value lies in its taste and in the calm moment it accompanies.
