What does the 25% urea in this foot cream do differently from a regular moisturiser?

Ordinary moisturisers are usually designed to add water and lipids to the skin's outer layer. They can help with mild dryness, but they often do little for dense, thickened areas on the heels or soles. Urea at 25% works in two ways. It is a skin-identical humectant, so it attracts and holds water in the upper layers and helps reduce the feeling of tightness. At this high percentage it also has a keratolytic effect: it helps loosen the bonds between dead skin cells that have built up, so rough patches gradually become softer and shed more easily.

The formula pairs urea with hydroxyethyl urea, another water-binding ingredient, and sunflower seed oil, which limits moisture loss and leaves skin more supple. This combination matters because once rough skin is softened it still needs hydration and a light protective layer, otherwise dryness tends to return quickly. The texture is lightweight and fast-absorbing, so it can be used regularly without leaving a sticky film.

Because 25% urea is quite active, this product is better suited to rough, intact skin than to sensitive or compromised areas. It is commonly chosen for feet that become hard and dry from long hours standing, closed shoes, sport, seasonal dryness, or repeated friction. It can also be used on thick patches on elbows and knees. If your skin reacts easily, apply a small amount to a limited area first and watch for any irritation before using it more widely.
