What does snail extract do in this day cream?

The key ingredient is snail secretion filtrate, also called snail mucin in cosmetics. It is included because it contains substances naturally associated with hydration and skin conditioning, not because it changes the skin on a medical level. Three parts are usually highlighted:

  • Hyaluronic acid attracts and holds water in the upper layers of the skin, so the face can look fresher and more supple after application.
  • Allantoin is known for its soothing feel, which makes the cream more comfortable on skin that feels dry or stressed.
  • Peptides and other skin-conditioning compounds are used to help improve the look of skin texture over time. This is why snail extract is often chosen for mature skin or for skin that needs a smoother, plumper appearance.

In this formula, the snail extract works with rose oil, which adds a softening botanical element and makes the skin feel silky rather than tight. The practical effect is a daytime moisturiser that hydrates, softens and helps the skin surface look more polished. It is a cosmetic product intended to improve the look and feel of the skin, not to act as a medicine. If your skin is very reactive, patch test on a small area first and stop using the cream if irritation appears.
