Collagen is a large structural protein. In its natural form it consists of long, tightly packed fibres that do not dissolve well in water and are harder for the body to break down. Hydrolysed collagen has been processed to break those long fibres into much smaller fragments, called peptides.
This matters for two practical reasons. First, the smaller peptides dissolve readily in water, juice or smoothies, which is why this powder mixes into a drink quickly without clumping. Second, because the fragments are already short, they are easier for the digestive system to absorb than intact collagen fibres. In short, the hydrolysed form makes the collagen both convenient to use and available in a form the body can actually take up.
This is a standard feature of many collagen supplements, but it is worth understanding because it directly affects how the product behaves in your glass and how well it works in your body. The product is a food supplement and is not intended to diagnose, treat or prevent any disease.
