Botanika juniper essential oil comes from the berries of Juniperus communis. Its scent is fresh, resinous and woodland-like, with a warming undertone. It is not floral or sweet; it sits on the drier, greener side, which is why it is often chosen for a clarifying atmosphere rather than a soft or romantic one.
Because it is distilled from berries, the oil has a simple composition: one plant, one raw material, one essential oil. This makes it easy to combine with other single-note oils. Common partners include pine, spruce, cypress and cedarwood for a deeper forest blend, or lavender and citrus oils such as sweet orange or grapefruit for a brighter edge. When combining, use roughly twice as much of the blending oil as juniper, then adjust according to your nose.
A little goes a long way. One or two drops are enough for a diffuser or a small massage blend, so a 10 ml bottle lasts through many uses. Keep the bottle closed whenever you are not using it, because essential oils are volatile. Store it in a cool, dark cabinet rather than in a bathroom or on a windowsill, and avoid direct sunlight and heat.
This oil is best suited to people who already use essential oils thoughtfully and know how to dilute them. If you know you are sensitive to juniper or react easily to essential oils, test a diluted drop on your skin before wider use. Do not use it during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
