What colour result can I expect from Artkolor Basma on my natural hair? — Basma 25 g - Artkolor (hair dye)

Artkolor Basma is a finely milled indigo leaf powder, so it does not work like a synthetic dye with a standard shade chart. The colour develops when the powder is mixed with hot water and the plant pigments bind to the outer layer of the hair. That means your starting shade always shows through the result, and the tone is built on top of it rather than replacing it.

  • On medium to dark brown hair, the most likely outcome is added depth and a cooler, less coppery cast. The change is subtle rather than dramatic.
  • On lighter hair, the same paste can produce a much deeper shade, often dark brown to near-black with a cool undertone. Basma used alone is not intended to create bright red or copper tones.
  • On porous or previously coloured hair, absorption can be uneven, so the final colour is less predictable. Your current colour will mix with the indigo stain instead of being removed.
  • On grey or bleached hair, the result can be different from natural hair, which is why the product guidance itself recommends a small strand test first.

Processing time also changes the depth: a shorter time gives a lighter stain, while a longer time allows more pigment to build. The only reliable way to know what you will get is to mix a small amount, apply it to a hidden strand, rinse, dry, and view the result in natural light before doing the whole head.
