This is a wash-off exfoliating peel mask, which means it works chemically rather than mechanically. It does not rely on abrasive particles to polish the skin. The main exfoliating ingredient is glycolic acid, which helps dissolve the natural 'glue' that holds old cells on the skin surface. When that bond is loosened, the skin sheds these dead cells more easily, leaving a smoother and more polished surface.
The formula combines three roles in one mask: glycolic acid does the exfoliating, Altai sea buckthorn hydrolate provides naturally occurring vitamin C and a refreshing feel, and Active C+ (an active form of vitamin C) is chosen for effective action on the upper skin layers with good tolerance, including for more delicate skin types. Do not confuse the supporting ingredients with the exfoliant — they contribute to a brighter, more even look and to skin resilience, but it is the acid that loosens the dead cell buildup.
This also changes how you use it. There is no need to rub or scrub the product into the skin. Apply an even layer, leave it on for the time stated on the packaging, and rinse off with water. Because it is a wash-off mask, the acid is in contact with the skin for only a limited time, which is a different, often gentler exposure than a leave-on acid serum.
