Shungite is a natural carbon-rich mineral, and it is noticeably more fragile and harder to shape than many other stones used in jewellery. Because of this, small differences in symmetry, surface smoothness and edge finish are a normal part of production rather than a fault. You may also see faint natural inclusions, tiny pits or a slight variation in size and pattern from one piece to another.
These features are actually a sign that the pendant has been made from real stone, not from a perfectly uniform synthetic or molded material. That means your pendant may not look exactly like the online photo – but that is part of its authentic mineral appearance. If you are someone who prefers jewellery with a raw, understated character, these irregularities are not a problem. If you expect factory-perfect sameness, this particular stone is probably not the right choice.
When you inspect the pendant on arrival, keep in mind that surface marks and slightly asymmetrical contours are expected. A piece that is cracked, broken or falling apart is a different matter, but small cosmetic variations are not a reason to consider the item faulty.
