The balm is made from unrefined, first cold-pressed cedar nut oil, which keeps more of the nuts' original lipid fraction and characteristic aroma, plus 12.5% cedar resin. The resin is what gives the product its thicker consistency and its pronounced tree-resin smell. No added fragrance is used; the scent comes from the resin itself.

Because of that, this balm does not behave like a light, neutral body oil. It is rich and dense, and the smell is clearly woody and forest-like.
