Is the serum suitable if the scalp is oily at the roots but the hair itself is dry and brittle?

The combination type, in which the scalp tends to be oily while the lengths are dry and brittle, is one of the most common situations. According to the label, the serum is applied to the scalp — evenly, with a gentle massage — and then combed through the lengths; with an oily scalp, a small amount of the product is enough.

The serum's light texture is an advantage here: it does not leave a noticeable greasy film, so if it is applied carefully there is little risk of weighing the hair down at the roots. Even so, the amount of product should be adjusted individually — start with the minimum and increase it if necessary.

If, however, the discomfort or dryness is felt on the scalp itself (and not just along the lengths) despite visible oiliness, this may be a sign that the skin's barrier function is impaired — in that case it makes sense to consult a specialist before choosing a care routine, in order to rule out conditions that require separate attention.
