Is this plaster suitable for skin that tends to react to adhesive?

Non-woven material is generally considered gentler than stiffer backings such as fabric or polyethylene. It lets air through better, which reduces the risk of overheating and maceration of the skin under the plaster. This makes it a suitable option when the plaster needs to stay on the skin for longer than a few minutes.

However, any adhesive plaster can cause a reaction in people with very sensitive or damaged skin, as well as in those prone to contact irritation from adhesive materials. Before prolonged use, it is sensible to stick a small piece on the inside of the wrist or forearm and wait 20–30 minutes: if redness, itching or burning appears, it is better not to use it.

It is also worth avoiding fixing it too tightly and not leaving the plaster in one place for longer than necessary. When removing it, pull slowly, parallel to the skin rather than perpendicular to it — this reduces mechanical irritation. After removal the plaster leaves no noticeable adhesive residue, which makes caring for the skin at the application site easier.

If the skin is damaged or inflamed, or if you have a chronic skin condition, it is best to consult a specialist before using any adhesive material.
