Why does the formula contain peppermint — isn't it too strong for babies? — BABY CALM Infant Drops 15 ml

It is a fair question: peppermint is indeed considered one of the more intense plant ingredients, and its presence in a baby product often gives parents pause.

In Baby Calm, peppermint is included because of its well-known action on the smooth muscle of the gastrointestinal tract — it helps the muscle layer of the intestine relax, which may ease cramping sensations and help wind pass naturally. It is this property that makes it a traditional ingredient in products for colic and bloating.

That said, there are a few nuances worth understanding:

  • Baby Calm is a concentrate that is diluted with water, so the concentration of peppermint in the prepared solution is much lower than in the original bottle. This sets it fundamentally apart from pure peppermint essential oil, which is absolutely unsuitable for babies when undiluted.
  • Individual sensitivity can vary in babies in the first months of life. If the baby reacts unusually to the first use — with restlessness, changes in breathing or a skin reaction — stop using the product.
  • Dill and anise in the formula complement the action of peppermint: all three ingredients are traditionally combined specifically in baby tummy products, enhancing the overall effect while keeping the concentration of each one lower.

The manufacturer recommends consulting a doctor before starting use — all the more so if you have any doubts about the ingredients or your baby's reaction.
