Redness and a feeling of warmth are the expected effect of this cream-gel, which is designed to have a mild warming action. They are caused by three ingredients in the formula, each of which acts on the skin in its own way.
Capsaicin (capsicum extract) irritates the skin's receptors, creating a feeling of warmth. It is responsible for the main “pepper” effect and can cause noticeable redness where it is applied.
Methyl nicotinate dilates the small blood vessels at the application site, increasing blood flow to the surface of the skin — hence both the visible redness and the feeling of warmth from within.
Fir oil adds a slightly irritating, spicy sensation that enhances the overall warming effect.
Together, all this can produce a noticeable reaction, especially in people with sensitive skin. If the burning is bearable and passes within a few minutes, the formula is working as intended. If the burning is very strong, does not subside or turns into pain, wash the product off with water and mild soap and do not use it on that area again; if there are signs of an allergic reaction, stop using it and consult a doctor.
Important: do not try to “sit out” severe burning by covering the area with cling film or a warm bandage — this will increase the irritation.
