Can the oil be applied to the ends only, without touching the roots?

Yes, applying burdock oil only to the mid-lengths and ends is a perfectly workable option, especially if:

  • your scalp tends to be oily and gets dirty quickly;
  • the roots look normal, but the ends are dry, brittle or frizzy;
  • you want to protect the lengths before brushing or heat styling.

In this case, a small amount of oil is spread over dry or slightly damp strands from the mid-lengths to the ends, avoiding the root area. This helps coat the strands, make them smoother and reduce mechanical damage when brushing.

If, however, the aim is to care for the scalp and create more favourable conditions at the roots, the oil is applied there; this is how the manufacturer recommends using it: warm, on the hair roots, left on for 20–30 minutes before washing with shampoo. Both approaches are acceptable; the choice depends on which area needs attention.

When applying to the ends only, the amount of oil should be very small, literally a few drops, otherwise the hair will look greasy at the ends.
