Can APITOXIN gel balm be used if you are allergic to honey or bee stings?

Bee venom is one of the best-known natural allergens. If you have ever had a marked reaction to a bee sting, honey, propolis or other bee products, do not use this gel balm without first consulting a doctor. Even a cosmetic product with apitoxin can cause a local or systemic allergic reaction in sensitive people.

If you are not allergic to bee products but your skin is generally prone to irritation, it is advisable to do a test: apply a small amount of the gel to the crook of your elbow or your wrist and wait 24 hours. Redness, itching, swelling or burning is a sign not to use it. This is standard practice for any product with active ingredients and essential oils.

Besides bee venom, the formula contains essential oils, which can themselves irritate sensitive skin. That is why a patch test makes sense even if you have never come across apitoxin before. If you have a chronic skin condition, are pregnant or take medication, it is worth consulting a specialist before use.
