The supplement suits most healthy adults who want to add a plant extract to their diet. However, there are situations in which it is better to consult a specialist before starting:
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding. The label states: not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
- Chronic conditions. This applies especially to conditions involving the gallbladder (curcumin stimulates bile production, which may be undesirable in gallstone disease) and the gastrointestinal tract.
- Taking medicines. Curcumin can affect the metabolism of some medicines. If you take something on a constant basis, check compatibility with your treating doctor or pharmacist.
The supplement is not a medicine and is not intended to diagnose, treat or prevent disease. If unwanted reactions occur, stop taking it and consult a specialist.
