The main group that needs to consult a specialist before taking vitamin K2 is people on anticoagulants (medicines that reduce blood clotting, such as warfarin). Vitamin K is involved in blood-clotting processes, and taking extra amounts can affect how such medicines work. This does not automatically rule it out, but it does call for medical supervision and possibly an adjustment of the medicine's dose.
It is also recommended to consult a specialist during pregnancy and breastfeeding — not because the supplement is inherently unsafe, but because any addition to the diet during these periods is better agreed individually with a doctor.
Since the MK-7 in this product is obtained from natto (fermented soy) and the formula also contains sulphites, anyone with an allergy or heightened sensitivity to soy or sulphites should take this into account when choosing the supplement.
For healthy adults not taking medicines that affect blood clotting, vitamin K2 in the MK-7 form is generally well tolerated. This is a food supplement, not a medicine, and it is not intended to treat or prevent any disease.
