Sennosides from Alexandrian senna leaf usually take effect several hours after intake — typically within 6 to 12 hours, although this varies from person to person. For this reason, many people prefer to drink this tea with dinner so that the effect comes in the morning; according to the label, it is taken once a day with a meal.
Taking it in the morning is also possible, but then the effect may come during the day — bear this in mind if you have a busy schedule or long journeys ahead. The first time, it is sensible to try it on a day when you are staying at home, to find out how and after how long your body reacts.
The lemon flavour and the tea-bag format make brewing easy: pour 200 ml of boiling water over 1 tea bag and leave to infuse for 20 minutes. The label does not suggest changing the brewing time to adjust the effect; if diarrhoea occurs, stop taking it — the tea is not used in case of diarrhoea.
