Aronia berries naturally contain plant substances characteristic of rich dark berries:
- Anthocyanins: natural pigments of the dark skin, which give the berries an almost black colour. They have antioxidant properties and are valued in nutrition as plant compounds.
- Polyphenols: a broad group of plant compounds typical of berries with an intense colour and an astringent taste.
- Other natural substances: a natural part of the whole berry material, which is retained because the berries are used whole.
To put it simply, antioxidants help protect cells against oxidative stress, a process that increases with unbalanced nutrition, lack of sleep, a fast pace of life and exposure to the environment. It is important to understand that all these substances are present in the berries naturally: nothing additional is added to the product, and antioxidants by themselves do not replace a varied and balanced diet.
